Owl Bureau – Brand Idenity

ROLE: Design Lead
AGENCY: Chandelier Creative

A legacy reborn: Owl Bureau is a 1,500-square-foot bookstore and community hub in Highland Park, blending heritage and modern design. I created the identity system at Chandelier Creative, honoring the wise owl’s symbolism while building a brand rooted in inclusivity, culture, and creativity.

Brand Identity
The visual system balances approachability and intellect. Friendly, human-centered typefaces (Wigrum and Sligoil Monospaced) sit alongside a piercing orange accent
—a homage to the alert, watchful eyes of the owl. The palette is restrained but purposeful, creating consistency across print, signage, and digital channels.

Logo
The logomark draws inspiration from circular forms and stacked geometry: the rounded shape of owl eyes, the curvature of books opening, and the repetition of lines
representing both feathers and printed pages. Simple, bold, and symbolic, the logo ties the identity back to themes of wisdom, continuity, and community.

Online
To announce the opening, we launched a social awareness campaign spotlighting the inclusive ethos of the space—a bookstore for everyoneThe website functions as a digital creative archive: easy to navigate, blog-like in form, and continually updated with events, book highlights, and community features.
